This infoflip is designed to help both novice and experienced First Aiders during medical emergencies at work or at home. It focuses on common First Aid practices but can not address specific practices and procedures of employers and training providers. Workers must be aware of their employer's internal procedures for chain of command, site safety, transportation, and reporting to the Workers' Compensation Board.

It is recommended that the user, in preparation for emergencies, read this infoflip frequently to gain familiarity with its content and layout.
Conscious Victim Step 1

Assess for

Victim is responsive (conscious)
Call for help (3)

Step 4

Place in recovery position (7), monitor breathing (4) and pulse, manage bleeding (9) and injuries

Unconscious Victim Step 1

Assess for

site safety (2)

Victim not responsive (unconscious) check

airway (4) for obstruction

 

Call for help (3)

Step 4

If unobstructed

check breathing (4)

If obstructed clear airway (4)

         

Step 5

If breathing

check pulse (4)

If not breathing ventilate (4)

Step 6

If there is a pulse, 

place in recovery position (7), monitor breathing (4) and pulse, manage bleeding (9)

 and other injuries as required

If there is no pulse, perform CPR (5)
